Masvida’s complex situation is now not only in the sights of the Superintendency of Health and the Public Prosecutor’s Office. In addition, doubts about its tax situation have alerted the Internal Revenue Service (SII), which is carrying out an extensive audit of Empresas Masvida. This was confirmed by sources of the agency to “El Mercurio”, who assured that “the service is carefully analyzing the situation of the isapre to determine the existence of possible tax incidences derived from the operations of the companies of the group”.
The review is being carried out in coordination between the Regional Directorate of Concepción of the SII and the Directorate of Large Taxpayers.
The agency’s sources added that, among other actions, a survey is being made of the information on the isapre’s corporate structure and its balance sheets and financial statements. In fact, they acknowledged that there are currently auditing processes open to companies in the group (isapre, real estate, laboratory, clinic, etc.).
In addition to these audits, there will also be an audit of transfers between related companies, expenses and crossed costs in the health holding company and the tax effects that this may have.
New proceedings
Yesterday, the lawyer Remberto Valdés, who represents about 300 shareholders, arrived at the SII offices in Concepción to file a complaint for the crimes of issuing ideologically false invoices. This would be for millionaire advisories presented by advisors of the companies, for which credits were requested.
According to a ruling of the Tax Court of Concepción dated January 11, 2013, the consultancies were never carried out. This caused losses to the company for more than $2 billion.
